Our New Island Friend J. Micheal Laferty

If your looking for a good show out on South Padre Island, TX. or a House Concert, look no further, meet J. Micheal Laferty!  A Singer, Songwriter and Storyteller of "Texas Music...Island Style."

A few words from our Friend:

"If you're going to profess to be a "Texas" band...you better have the goods to back it up; the bar has been set high down here. These guys can walk right up and step over it with ease! Put 'em on stage with Pat, Robert Earl, Jack, Kevin, Lyle...anybody, and you're going to have to be at the top of your game because Rio Grand is gonna take your fans and make 'em their own. It wouldn't be so bad if they were just great musicians...but they're all so damn nice guys on top of it!"

J. Micheal Laferty

Thanks so much for the Awesome Message Micheal!

Robert K. Oermann On Rio Grand’s "Storm Inside of Me"

Robert K. Oermann Gives 'Disc of the Day' to RG

Robert K. Oermann, "the dean of Nashville's entertainment journalists," writes bi-weekly columns for Music Row magazine and has been published in more than 100 other national periodicals. His many books to date include the award-winning Finding Her Voice and A Century of Country. He has penned liner notes for more than 90 albums and boxed-set productions. He has scripted and/or directed television specials and documentaries for CMT, CBS, the BBC, TBS, TNN and others. And he appears frequently on-camera as a commentator on VH-1, A&E, CMT and the BBC.

Among many well established artist in the race for DISClaimer's DISC of the Day this is the reading Sub-Headline:  "But the lesser known Rio Grand trumps them both and nails down the Disc of the Day award."

RIO GRAND/That's My Memory
Writer: Keith Burns/Rick Ferrell; Producer: Mark Oliverius; Publisher: Morris-Bedell/Banna Bear/Rainy Graham, BMI; Curb/Asylum (CDX)
"Spectacularly well sung. The lead vocalist practically weeps in melody and the chorus harmonies are celestial. The superb heartache ballad has 'hit' written all over it. It is also available in a version with Spanish-language phrases, and I'm all for that in our music."

Rio Grand Brings Down the House at CMA Fest

Rio Grand Shut Down the CMA Music Fest Riverfront Park Daytime Stages
on Sunday with a Powerful Performance.

With the second single, "That's My Memory", on the verge of being released in July, Rio Grand stopped by before their Riverfront show to interview and visit with GAC's Suzanne Alexander, one of their favorite folks.  They were elated to be making an encore appearance at the CMA Fest and Rivera related to Alexander that he, for one, would be glad to take part in Music City's greatest party for at least another week!

Rio Grand's undeniable passion for music and love of the road has made it easy for them to connect with fans nationwide. "Our live show sets us a part. We don't hold anything back," Rivera jokingly says. "When we walk out on stage, our music kicks you in the teeth, makes you bleed and you end up liking the way it tastes."

The GAC Interview with Suzanne Alexander and Rio Grand aired June 14, last night.  Their debut national appearance on the 'ole picture box', ...tv that is.

Rio Grand and Sweepy Walker Get Away!

Our latest track on the MySpace Player, 'Get Away', has been doing very well out there and loving everyones comments on the song.  This song was so much fun to do and just brought out the 'energy' that is Rio Grand.  One key element in the song that appears to juice up the 'feeling' is that harp in the background that rocked all the way through.  That harmonica player who helped us out at the studio is Sweepy Walker!  What a wonderful experience it was to play with Sweepy and to have him on our track, nothing short of awesome!  You are the best Buddy.

You can visit Sweepy Walker on his MySpace.

His web site has a way cool out of the ordinary CD called Catfish and Titties, check it out at www.sweepywalker.com.
